  • Specifications: 5/8″-18 UNF tap and die set, right hand, 2B tolerance grade. Suitable for making or repairing male and female threads. Good for general purpose applications.
  • Application: Used for through hole processing, such as alloy steel, die steel, cast iron, ferrous and non-ferrous materials etc.. Great for maintenance and repair work.
  • Features: High speed steel (HSS) tool provides high hardness and good wear-resistance. With fine grinding process, tap and die set is sharp and durable, and with clear thread to meet the processing requirements.
  • Easy to Use: The fastening screw in the middle of the die wrench should be inserted into the slot of the die and tightened. The machine tap is suitable for drill presses, tapping machines, CNC and milling machines.
  • Tips: Used with tapping oil to get threads and more durable taps. Suitable lubricating oil should be added to the cutting edge of dies and taps when tapping.

Product Description Information When tapping, appropriate lubricating oil is good for cutting or cooling, making the cutting easier and faster, improving the smoothness and dimensional accuracy, and helping to extend the service life. The following lubricants are recommended: steel – cutting oil, machine oil; pig iron – dry oil; aluminum – kerosene; stainless steel – mixed kerosene; hard plastic – dry oil. Be sure to select the appropriate cutting oil for complex tapping process and apply anti-rust oil for maintenance after use. Round Threading Dies The round dies can process, correct or clean external threads. Conical locking hole, strong locking and not loose. Great for maintenance and repair work on pipes, boards and machinery. Applications Perfect for rethreading existing threads in hard materials like metal, or making new threads in softer material such as plastic. Easy to Use Suitable for tapping stainless steel, aluminum alloy, cast iron, copper, iron, aluminum, plastic, etc.. NOT suitable for tile, concrete, walls, stone, etc. Alloy Tool Steel Dies High hardness and wear resistance. High hardening capacity and tempering resistance. Tips for Round Dies The end of the bar should be chamfered 1*45 degree, and the chamfer is too large to cut in. The bar diameter should be smaller ( about 0.05mm-0.15mm) than the nominal diameter of the required thread. Excessive diameter can easily cause difficult cutting and lead to damage to the die teeth. It needs to be reversed every 1/4~1/2 turn to facilitate the chip discharge from the chip hole. When tapping, add suitable lubricating oil to the cutting edge, and repeat the operation 3-4 times until the thread length is obtained. When using by hand, pay attention to even force and avoid blind force. Straight Flute Taps Straight flute design, downward chip removal, fast tapping with accuracy, clear threads without burrs. Suitable for processing through holes or shallow blind holes. Easy to Use Used on drilling machines, tapping machines, CNC and milling machines. Use with tapping oil to get higher quality threads and more durable taps. Coatings Features just the base substrate without any additional coatings, suitable for wide ranges of applications. Perfect for drilling and tapping aluminum, zinc, alloy, hard plastic etc.. High Speed Steel Taps High hardness and good wear resistance. High heat resistance and good process performance. Good strength and toughness. Tips for Thread Taps Machine taps are suggested to be used with tap collets with overload protection. Hand use or electric drills use is easy to cause breakage to the tap, so it is not recommended. Recommended feed rate: general steel: 6-15m/min; harder steel: 5-10m/min; stainless steel: 2-7m/min; cast iron: 8-10m/min. The torque caused by too fast feed speed is too large, which can easily cause the tap to break. Micro taps are mainly used in clocks and watches for machining holes in wood and soft metals with low hardness.
