From the manufacturer ProDec is the UK's biggest and most widely distributed brand of trade decorating accessories, so whether you're a seasoned pro, enthusiastic DIYer or even a beginner, we've got everything you need for a great finish - just add paint Aluminium oxide - the trade choice Aluminium oxide is the abrasive paper of choice used by trade professionals in preference to sandpaper. The aluminium oxide grains are more durable, have a self-sharpening action and clog less, giving high performance sanding that outlasts sandpaper by up to 10 times. It's ideal both for hand sanding - with or without a sanding block - and machine sanding: at 115mm wide the roll is the standard width for power tools. The E-weight backing paper used in ProDec aluminium oxide is highly flexible and crack resistant so it withstands being creased and folded, making it ideal for sanding contoured or shaped surfaces, as well as being easy to cut for power tool use. Grit guide ProDec aluminium oxide is available in a range of grits that deliver very fine to very aggressive abrasion and it's important to select the correct grit to match the task at hand. Use the guide below to help you make the right choice. 40 grit Extra Coarse grade For the toughest jobs, such as stripping very rough or built-up surfaces with several layers of paint or varnish. This grade gives aggressive abrasion so reserve it for the most difficult tasks. 60 grit Coarse grade For sanding rough sawn wood, rapidly removing previous coatings, wiping away a layer of debris with minimal effort and shaping or rounding edges. 80 grit Medium grade For removing varnish, smoothing surface imperfections and sanding of bare wood to prepare it before painting. Gives medium to coarse surface texture after sanding. 100 grit Medium-Fine grade For removing one or two layers of paint or varnish, smoothing minor surface imperfections and sanding of bare smooth planed wood to prepare it before painting. 120 grit Fine grade For final sanding prior to applying a first coat of paint or varnish to wood, smoothing surface imperfections, removing texture on plaster and fillers and removing water stains on wood. Not suitable for removing paint or varnish. 180 grit Very Fine grade For smoothing minor imperfections between coats of paint, removing surface imperfections, deburring edges and sanding filler to a smooth finish. 240 grit Extra Fine grade For sanding bare wood for a smooth finish before staining, between coats of paint or varnish to give an adhesion key for the next coat and creating a smooth and even finish with plaster. ABRASIVE SOLUTIONS FROM PRODEC - from sanding to cleaning, ProDec has a range of products to help you prepare the perfect surface. Aluminium oxide The abrasive paper of choice used by trade professionals in preference to sandpaper. The aluminium oxide grains are more durable, have a self-sharpening action and clog less, giving high performance sanding that outlasts sandpaper by up to 10 times. ProFlex ProFlex takes aluminium oxide to the next level, replacing the standard backing paper with an ultra-flexible, crack-resistant cotton cloth, giving outstanding performance with curved and profiled surfaces by moulding effortlessly to match their shape for fast, efficient sanding. Sanding Mesh Sanding Mesh has a hi-tech mesh construction to prevent blockage, which allows sanding dust to escape through the mesh rather than clogging it. The mesh is coated on both sides with durable glass fibre and aluminium oxide abrasive, so when one side is finally spent you can simply turn it over and use the other side. It all adds up to a longer working life and faster, more efficient sanding than traditional sandpaper. Finishing Paper Fine finish abrasive paper that provides a smooth surface between coats of paint or varnish, giving the ideal substrate key for optimum adhesion. Uniformly sized grit particles eliminate sanding scratches for a perfect finish. Sanding heads Ideal for sanding larger areas such as whole walls, ceiling or floors to prepare before decorating, ProDec has sanding heads for use by hand or with an extension pole that are compatible with all types and grades of abrasive paper. Tack cloths Impregnated with a special lightly tacky resin that efficiently picks up any loose dust, lint, dirt and other debris that's often not visible to the naked eye, tack cloths ensure the surface is clean and free from contaminants, which can otherwise reduce the adhesion performance of coatings and lead to flaking and cracking. Wire brushes ProDec wire brushes feature high density rows of robust steel wire that is very effective for heavy duty cleaning and preparation of a wide variety of surfaces including wood, metal, brick, masonry, flags, steel machinery and more. Steel wool Steel wool is ideal for a range of general purpose cleaning and degreasing tasks on metal, wood and other surfaces, as well as surface preparation prior to painting. It can be moulded to any shape to enable easy abrasion or cleaning of pipes and especially irregular, contoured or hard to reach spots.
